Snap to it! Shutter speed and the dark side
And now for a photography hiatus from food…
You could say I’m good with deadlines, or that I’m bad with them, depending on how you look at it. When I was in school I’d say I was bad with them, because I was the one doing the assignment the night before, and cramming all night for the exams. But I always hit the deadline. Luckily spelling counts, but sleep doesn’t.
When I started working, my living close to the deadline actually became an advantage, because I started work at a consulting firm where every other person there lived life like I did. This meant I didn’t flinch when I had to stay there all night, make sure the copy place was open at 5am, and meet with the client at 8. Yeah, those were good times…
But every so often, I get bitten by a deadline when I get it wrong, like with the return of Snaptoit, the amazing Cinnamon’s photography challenges, open to one and all.
For this one, I had a whole month to complete the challenge, but I had it in my head that the deadline was Oct 31 when it was actually a few days before that. The challenge was about a fast shutter speed. When I was reminded by my sweet fellow competitor Midwesternbite (check her cute doggy submissions here) that I messed up, it was dark. This doesn’t work so well for fast shutter speed. Here was my best attempt:
Spooky, but not really freeze-motion-awesome like I was going for. Not one to give up, I submitted my crappy-halloweenish shot, “snapped” at my husband due to my short tempered frustration at not having enough light, and tried again today, deadlines be darned. I suited up my little dark side obsessed Vader and had at it. Here’s the one I entered.
Is he throwing the candies, or using the force to get as many as he can?
He says Darth Vader doesn’t smile.
I was quite pleased with these tardy results! Check out Cinnamon’s tutorial and give it a try yourself! Or you can just use the force to get it done, your choice, but on time may you always be (Laugh it up, fuzzball). Happy Halloween!
